Jerry Mathis, Vice Mayor
Jerry Mathis was first elected Alderman in 2008 and re-elected in 2011. He represents the City on the Tullahoma Housing Authority, serves as Chairman of the Youth Development Committee, and is on the Policy Committee. He previously served on the Planning Commission, the Airport Authority, and the Tullahoma Industrial Development Board.
Mathis is a member of two Hall of Fame organizations, the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association and the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association.
He is an elected member of the State (TSSAA) Board of Control, the governing body for the State of Tennessee. Jerry was chosen as Teacher of the Year in Tullahoma in 1987-1988. Jerry is married to Barbara Joyce Sugg. They have two children, Tim and Jamie, and three grandchildren. Jerry is a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he serves on the church council.
Jerry holds a B.S. and a M.S. degree in education from Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee. He is currently the Athletic and Vocational Director for the Tullahoma City School System.
