Administrator Louis J. Baltz III

Louis J. Baltz III serves as City Administrator for the City of Tullahoma, Tennessee. Mr. Baltz was appointed to the position in January 1999. He has nearly thirty years of management experience in the public sector.

Mr. Baltz earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Memphis State University in 1979. He is a 1992 graduate of the Senior Executive Institute of the University of Virginia. In 1995 he received his Master of Public Administration from Tennessee State University.

In the public sector he has held the positions of Director of Public Works and Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Brentwood, Tennessee. He serves as Vice-Chairman of the Tri-County Railroad Authority. He is the Chairman of the Coffee County Joint Economic and Community Development Board and is a member of the Franklin County Joint ECD Board. In addition, Mr. Baltz is vice-chair of the South Central Tennessee Rural Transportation Authority Technical Committee.

He is a past president of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration. Baltz is also a member of the International City Management Association, Arnold Community Council and Tullahoma Noon Rotary Club where he is a Paul Harris Fellow.

Mr. Baltz was recognized with the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award for 2008 by the Tennessee State University Institute of Government. In 2009 he was elected President of the Tennessee City Management Association and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Municipal League.

He and his wife have three children.
