Mayor Asks for Community Input in Tullahoma Campaign Sesquicentennial

Mayor Lane Curlee is soliciting community input in forming a citizens group, the Tullahoma Campaign Sesquicentennial Committee, to plan for the 150th anniversary of the Tullahoma Campaign. The commemoration and public education campaign would commemorate in 2013 this important event in Tullahoma, Civil War and military history.

The public is invited to attend a meeting on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. in the 2nd Floor Board Chambers at the Tullahoma Municipal Building, 201 West Grundy Street, Tullahoma, TN 37388.

The meeting will include an orientation, brainstorming session and determination of degree and areas of interest within the community.

"This anniversary is an important one for our city that should be recognized," Curlee said. "One hundred and fifty years ago, next year, Tullahoma was the objective of a major Civil War campaign that bears its name."

Activities will be scheduled around late June - early July 2013, the 150th anniversary of the campaign. More information about community-wide celebrations, other activities and how schools, civic clubs, neighborhood organizations, the faith community and others can get involved will be forthcoming.
