Tullahoma City Schools in Tennessee Top 5
Two of Our Great StudentsAs we consider the factors that make a school great, we often utilize either stories of success or data points to statistically demonstrate our effectiveness. Tullahoma City Schools is proud to have a record of academic and extra-curricular achievement to share with our community that places us in the "Top 5" school districts in Tennessee in both the stories of success and the data produced on our student tests.
The State of Tennessee and SAS, Incorporated completed a study of academic performance in Tennessee considering math and science in grades 6 and following those same students through their ACT exit examinations before graduation. That study, released in November 2011, showed that our best academic performers, those in the top 25% of the TCAP evaluation as sixth graders, were the fifth highest school system in Tennessee in math. In science, our top performers were third in the state. As we considered our other students, those performing in the three lower quartiles, they finished in second place in the second quartile, first place in the third quartile, and sixth place in the fourth quartile.
While our numbers are among the best in the state, we are more proud of students and the stories of success that they bring back to our community. We graduate young people who lead, those who serve and demonstrate exceptional drive to make our community and world a better place. In the last five years, our students have gone on to lead the Pride of the Southland Marching Band at the University of Tennessee (Cody Striklin), become the President of the Student Government Association (Ross Rowland), and to become America's Distinguished Young Woman (Katye Brock).
Our academic numbers are indeed a tremendous accomplishment, but our stories of student success truly set us apart.
