The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI)
The University of Tennessee Space Institute (UTSI) was established in 1964 and was built as envisioned by Dr. B. H. Goethert. It is located on the lakeshore of Woods Reservoir near Tullahoma, Tennessee. An ongoing relationship between AEDC and UTSI has continued through the years. Advanced education and research are integral parts of the UTSI graduate programs. Since its founding, 1,785 Masters and 249 Doctoral degrees have been awarded to UTSI graduates. Twelve NASA astronauts have attended UTSI, nine of which have received degrees from UTSI’s Flight Systems Research Program. Fully one-third of the UTSI graduates have been affiliated with AEDC.
