Welcome to the Official Website for the City of Tullahoma
...continued
The opening of Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in 1951 served as the catalyst for numerous private business ventures and nurtured Tullahoma's high-tech environment. AEDC houses the world's largest aeronautical research center, and offers scheduled tours.
Tullahoma's central location just 11 miles from I-24 at the crossroads of Highway 55 and 41A has fostered its growth into a thriving regional commercial, shopping and medical hub. And it is only 75 miles from the “big” cities of Nashville and Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Huntsville, Alabama.
But you won't have to leave Tullahoma to find entertainment. There's plenty to do here! Visit the area's only Fine Arts Center, the unique Beechcraft Heritage Museum, or the children's Hands-on-Science Center. Learn more about the Civil War's Tullahoma Campaign on the Tennessee Civil War Driving Trail while driving the beautiful Backroads Heritage area.
Tullahoma is proud to be home to George Dickel Distillery and we are also right down the road from Jack Daniel's Distillery. You'll be delighted and entertained when you hear the colorful stories behind these two famous smooth Tennessee sippin' whiskeys. We encourage visitors to tour “George” and “Jack” and “come on back” to Tullahoma to stay overnight in one of our excellent hotels and enjoy a wonderful meal in one of our many and varied dining establishments. Tullahoma offers convenient lodging and dining for visitors to the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration and Bonaroo Music Festival visitors.
You'll find more information on available lodging, shopping, dining, and recreation available in Tullahoma at the Tullahoma Area Chamber of Commerce membership directory at www.tullahoma.org/member_directory.php.
